    A levels
-Normally take 3-4 subjects at A2, Strong candidates may take 5-6, max maybe 7?
    -Ucas tariff: 140 for A* , full marks = 980

    IB
    -6 subjects +3points to reach 45/45
    UCAS tariff- full marks =720

HKDSE (Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education)
    -Students normally take 7 subjects
    -highest achievable grade is 5**
    -Ucas tariff: 5**=145 , full marks=1015

Having checked some of the qualifications around the world, I found that these 3 are probably the hardest in terms of the difficulty of exam questions, depth and breath of the subjects. So, let's start our discussion!!

I think you're mildly deluded if you think "strong candidates take 5-6, maybe 7" subjects for A2! Most very strong candidates (if you look at Cambridge's statistics, for instance) will take four as a maximum because, at least in Britain, universities are interested in your grades rather than the number of subjects; doing five or more subjects at A2 is generally completely pointless. In fact there are a number of high achieving schools that actually ban their students from taking more than four subjects at A2 because it's so pointless.

I saw a girl who applied to Cambridge Medicine last year and was predicted to get 7 A* with UMS 100 for the best 6 subjects in AS... I'm not sure if it is common for those genius. ( She is British )

Btw, I found that the exam questions of Japan are extremely difficult. But since most of you guys can't read Japanese, I'm not sure if you guys are interested to have a look of their exam papers. I just post it here for reference. ( I can read a little Japanese and found that the questions are much difficult than those in A levels)
