My doctor put me on these pills to help control the pain of my period, I don't use them as my only method of contraception. I missed taking the inactive pills last month as it was at the time of new year and didn't want to be in my period, this month it will be my years anniversary with my boyfriend am I able to miss taking the inactive pills two months running ? Or am I able to miss a few of the active pills to bring my period forward ?

I'm on microgynon, but I don't have inactive pills, I just have to take 21 then not take pills for 4-7 days, I've always been told you can string 3 packs together, but then you have to have a bleed, so if you've had 2 without a bleed so far, you should be good to string another pack along, just be aware, when I string 3 together, I get major hormone build up (not sure if it's just me!)

You can skip as many periods as you want on the pill. The inactive pills and subsequent period is only designed into the dosing to make women feel "normal" by having a period. You can safely skip as many periods as you want.

I was under the impression you needed 4 bleeds per year? That's what my doctor told me about the pill

You could do either, but missing your inactive pills again and taking your active ones for a third month could potentially cause breakthrough bleeding. It does for some people.

So long as you've had at least 21 active pills, you can take your break at any time, the main thing to consider is making sure you remember to take 21 active pills again before your next break as you'll be part way through one pack, so you'd need to continue taking enough pills/remembering when to stop
