Because we were all sent a picture of him. And he looked the same. And he was on his own and being decidedly "dodgy"

Hmmm, I haven't seen any pictures of this guy - is it the same one who was wandering around Pembroke the other night? Some random guy knocked on some of my friends' doors and scared the shit out of them, same night as the first stabbing.

Am a bit worried because frankly some of the security round here leaves a lot to be desired, although we do have 24 hour porters. However, hopefully if I don't go out on my own in the middle of the night (which I don't make a habit of) I'll be ok :frown:

Well the police emailed our porters and insisted that we all got a picture of him. Perhaps they think we're more of a risk? I can email it to you if you like - keep an eye out for him.... Our porters are very good compared to some I have seen in other colleges (they know my name and smile at me if they see me in town - whereas other porters I have seen smoking  at their desks!) It's just such a shame we attract the nutters.

Hmmmm. I was actually scared when I just went to have a bath - I had to check all the doors of the other showers/toilets just to "make sure". I will take you up on your offer, although I will go for the un-edited version (i.e. free protection).

p.s. Went past JJB today as I got my eyes done. Need glasses <Sniff>

Why do the words 'you will respect my authoritah' spring to mind....

I suppose they can't forbid access to every suspicious looking person though. If they did the game of assasins would fall apart, surely.
Are things always this violent in Cambridge? I knew the grass was browner on the other side, but I didn't think it would be this bad...

They sure do  The best bit was when he was on his tricycle.

The Police have asked the College to send each student this email about Mr Gary Nash.

If Mr Nash is seen inside College then the Police should be called, as he has already been warned against visiting the premises.

Cambridge Police are compiling a file of incidents where he has been found inside College premises. They are aware of Mr Nash visiting New Hall, St. Johns, Pembroke and Downing.

If you have seen or had contact with Mr Nash in New Hall, prior to today, or if he has approached any student that you know, then please contact Cambridge Police who will be in touch to obtain a statement.

Cambridge Police are looking at taking out an Antisocial Behaviour Order to prevent Mr Nash from visiting any College premises, but this requires the assitance of students in contacting Police to tell them of incidents where Mr Nash has been loitering around Colleges and/or speaking to students.

Contact can be made in any of the following ways:

Leave details with the Porters

Write to DC Andy Denzey at Parkside Police Station, Cambridge

Email DC Andy Denzey on [email protected]

Ring 01223 358966 and ask to report an incident

Ring Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555111

Your assistance is appreciated.

I'm confused. He's been stabbing people, yet they're concerned about loitering?

I'm not convinced this lurker guy is the stabbing guy, none of the local news sites seem to know of the link (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/cambridgeshire/3701977.stm bbc article). It'd be surprising if the beeb didn't circulate his picture if he was suspected.

No 24hr porters here, which is fun, but the doors are pretty heavy and it's a locked building. I'm right in the area where it's been happening too, one was outside the arundel hotel (150yds away or so). It's the randomness of the attacks which is worrying, if it had a motive it might be less of a threat but the guy is evidently just a nutter. Sooner he's caught the better.

Agreed. Even rapists have a motivation. This guy just seems to be a dick.

Stabbing people in the back certainly isn't going to win you any friends....

Colony doesn't have 24 hour porters?!? Actually, I'm not sure mem does, though I know they're there fairly late into the night.

Hmmm...if we have a mystery loiterer and a Mr. Stabby, things are sounding even better by the minute. I don't generally hang out round that area of town though, so fingers crossed...

Everyone's going a bit mad here. Locked bedroom doors, all men must be escorted at ALL times and any lone men have to be reported!

I'm not going to be walking back from town at night for a while.

Hehe, my cousin told me a semi-amusing story about a friend of his who went to a party at your college a while back. One of his female friends got completely legless, so being gentlemanly, he took her back to her room and put her to bed (entirely innocently, I promise!). Just as he was walking back to the party, the porter got him and chucked him out - he wasn't even allowed to go and rescue his coat or tell people where he was going! I know they have to be careful, but that sort of thing is a shame.

Our porters are pretty good though - they know who is a member of college and who isn't, and will watch out for you very well, especially at night

A girl was sexually assualted on her way up Castle Hill by another member of the university a while back - so I suppose I can understand it, although it is a shame:frown:. Blame the men who come and masturbate at our windows, lurk around college and attempt to steal things.

Do you not think it would be best to leave this now? You will just end up getting even more worried :frown:
