Friend's rude remark

After seeing the other thread it reminded me of what my friend said the other day! We're working abroad in a small town and constantly get harrassed by guys on the street and stuff. She said she didn't know why "because it's not like we're pretty" How rude! I felt like saying, speak for yourself! I don't think I'm drop dead gorgeous but loads of people have said I'm really pretty, I mean total strangers sometimes. I was really shocked to find out she obviously thinks I'm a minger.

:hugs: I don't think she meant it like that - I think she was trying to sugar coat the fact that she did actually like the attention but just didn't want to give it away - so never worry but do tell her it annoyed you

Oh I wouldn't worry about it. With an ego like yours, do you really need to worry what your friends might think?

I think she honestly felt that way. I'd never make a comment like that to her. It honestly did bother me - I was wondering if she thinks I;m ugly cos I'm not white since she made a similar remark about an Asian girl at work who is gorgeous. It just seemed very rude. And I;m anon because she uses this board!

Well tbh if she read that original post, she'd be able to tell it's you most probably, especially as you quoted her :P

I think that's quite funny but I would say that if she keeps saying things that get you down just don't hang around with her anymore, I used to have a 'friend' at school who would say all kinds of horrible things in this completely innocent tone, or add 'no offence', and I laughed about it with other people but seriously looking back I can't believe I didn't smack her. And I quote:

'No offence Jenny but you really smell of chinchillas'

[After walking with me to a class, looking into the classroom and seeing a stand-in teacher who was quite obviously very medically overweight]
'Jesus, look at her - and I thought YOU were fat!'

etc etc.

God, and to think - it's deaths in Iraq that make the news night after night.

well at least your friend didnt say you were ugly straight to your face, just like my friend did back in sixth form. Stop crying over nothing.

Ditto the above.

Thats nothing- just be thankful it wasnt worse. I was informed by one of my 'friends' in Year 10 that a few guys had said i was the 'minging-est (is that even a word, sp?) girl in year 10'. Needless to say it didnt help my self esteem in the slightest which was already low. It still makes me feel really upset today, & i cant believe anybody would believe i was anything more than 'plain.' Now im fearful that anyone who does apparently like me is just having a laugh & joking. Isnt life great like that!?

Brilliant post. I think it could be extended to the amount of egoism that is sometimes displayed all over this forum.

Someone seems to have a bit of an ego (looks at the OP) Seriously get over it.
