    Hello everyone,
I've recently applied to all of my 5 University Choices.
I'm currently completing my Btec Extended Diploma in Applied Science, I seem to be doing well as i am targeted an end Grade of DDD*.
I have a general interest Zoology and have so far received two offers.
Bangor University of zoology with animal behaviour
    or
Zoo Biology at Nottingham Trent University

If anyone has attended either university or applied to the same course, i would love to know what you think!
I am still waiting to hear from Liverpool University and Newcastle, sadly i have been rejected from Lincoln due to not having the right requirements but that was my fault for not looking properly

    Thanks,
    Jordan

Although the courses sound similar, I imagine their focus would be fairly different. I would research the course content carefully, and chose the one who's content I preferred.

I also know that Newcastle has a really good animal/zoology department and do a lot of animal welfare based research, so if that's something that interests you, if you get an offer, that would be a great place to study.

    Good Luck

Thank you very much for replying and yes the modules are quite different, Nottingham Trent is more focused on exotic animal studies and non domestic animals, im going to attend both open days and i didn't know that about Newcastle!
I really do hope i get offers from my other two!
Thank you again for your post, its great advice!

The thing that would worry me about the Nottingham Trent course is that it's too narrow. I know a few people who want to go into zoo work, and it's not an easy field to get into- there are more people who want to work in zoos than there are jobs available. Most people who become keepers now have lots of voluntary experience and often post-grad qualifications. Despite this, the money isn't great and the opportunities for career progression are rare.

Doing such a specialised course would narrow down your options a lot, and wouldn't necessarily benefit you in going into zoo work. There will be a lot more jobs/career paths open to you if you do a more general course.

Good Luck getting other offers and good luck whatever you decide

Omg this is the weirdest thing ever you're on the same course as me, have the same name as me and want to do the same degree's as me haha brilliant! Which uni did you pick in the end? I'm applying this year i got accepted to Lincoln on the basis i get DDM but i'm on track for 3 D*'s they must of changed the requirements since you applied because you've definitely got the grades!
