    Hello TSR,

    Could anyone help me with this M2 question?

    1) A child's toy consists of a sphere mounted on top of a light spring, inside a smooth tube. The sphere is pushed down, so that the spring is compressed. When released, the sphere moves vertically upwards.

    Model the sphere as a particle of mass 30 grams. The spring has a natural length of 3cm and the modulus of elasticity of 4.5N, and rests on a horizontal surface.

    a) Find the compression of the spring when the sphere is at rest in equilibrium. The answer to this is 0.196, I've got this answer

    The spring is now compressed until its length is 1cm. The system is then released. Find the maximum height of the sphere in the subsequent motion.



    Consider the current total EPE,GPE, and KE of the system before and after the spring reaches its equilibrium point.
