What's the best way to get relief from a cold? (not physically cold, the runny nose)

If anybody had the cure for the common cold, they would be a rich, rich man.

I say man, because it's unlikely that a woman other than Marie Curie will ever make a significant scientific discovery.
Propain tablets usually work when i got a cold.

I swear this is the most annoying illness for me.
Honey and lemon its really nice for some reason, squeeze a lemon and put the juice into a mug add a generous teaspoon of honey and boiling water. You wouldnt think it but it tastes really nice and relieves the symptoms of a cold.

^^^ fighting talk.

we've made some suggestions (drugs, ribena etc). try them or go to bed.
make sure you have a tissue in your pocket nothing worse than hearing someone snort like an elephant to clear there nasal passages. Also vitamin C is meant to help the immune system.

Oh god. So many things to take! Let's see how I feel tomorrwo. Cheers for suggestions.
A hot toddy!!! Heat up your bed with hot water bottle or lecky blanket, have a bath or shower, then put one nip of whiskey to a cup, add one teaspoon of sugar or honey and fill up half of the cup with hot water. Drink fairly quickly and jump into your warm bed and don't pull the covers off you. You'll sweat the cold out. Repeat tomorrow night. Usually takes 3 days to work

A variation on this is Boot's 24 Hour Cold & Flu Relief Capsules. I'm taking them at the moment; judging from the side of the box they have paracetamol for pain relief, pholcodine to stop coughs, and pseudoephedrine to reduce nasal congestion. The night pills also have diphenhydramine (Nytol basically) to help you sleep.
If you feel a cold coming on then dose up on vitamin C. It can often get rid of the cold before it ever really starts. If nothing else it usually helps prevent the cold being so severe and long lasting. Nothing wrong with supplimenting your diet now with vitamin C, might help get rid of your current cold.
H2O on the go! Sleep well! And arm yourself with 2 boxes of Kleenex tissues the minimum! You really want to get rid of the mucus trapped in your nose.

Couldn't sleep until 3am due my dahm nose. I feel a little better now but it's still there.
