I'm pretty that most prelims are probably past paper questions or questions that are similar to previous exam but a particular part has been changed.

yeah I've seen that before,, sometimes theyre just random though maybe from really dated past papers

I think some schools also buy prelim papers from companies which make them because I've seen logos on papers before.
In my school it changes from subject to subject. In English and Modern Languages they buy them from P&N, Maths has three different ones and rotates them from year to year, sciences just tend to have one they repeat and social subjects make them up using examples from past papers and model papers because they mostly do a couple of 5 to 6 markers or whatever. Admin and It and PE tend not to do prelims at al for some strange reason. Technology is basically whatever the teacher feels like. Last year I felt as if my teacher couldn't be bothered to come up with anything good so he just made up some questions off the top of his head. So tbh i think it depends on what subject it is because they are al different and require different approaches. have you done yours btw?
This year, my English one has been made by the teachers, Maths has been bought from a company (Pegasus I believe), Chemistry is one of four that rotate each year, Physics is made of past paper questions and I have no idea what they have done for my Human Biology prelim so, as you can see, it changes between departments and schools.

Good luck with your prelims when they come or if you have already sat them then I hope you achieve what you wanted to! My first prelim is Higher Maths which is tomorrow and I'm freaking out a little :frown:

Not yet first one is next Fri though and I'm worried :frown:
That sounds awful I hate lazy teachers especially when you want to do well. As much as I don't enjoy the prelims I'm grateful fr them as I think they're the best prep fr exams, are you doing nationals, highers or advanced highers?

Yeah we've had Pegasus before too
How did your maths prelim go? You tend to imagine them to be worse than they actually are so I'm sure you've done well
Are all of your prelims highers? Thanks mine haven't started yet so good luck with the rest of yours too

Yip  I hate prelims so much though! They are just bleugh! Everybody gets so competitive for no reason and its annoying cos everyone keeps comparing themselves so intensely. U kno who's top dog who's second who lost their game. Aargh!

Ahh what AHs r u doing? Good luck btw that's some hard core **** from what I've heard  thinking of crashing higher physics next year tho cos our school doesn't offer triple science but might be useful at uni. Is it hard to crash physics wld u say?

New cfe stuff and its not as bad as everyone makes it out to seem. I quite like it  they've made it so there is less of a jump which I suppose its good. But the assignments are a bit of work. :\
I'm the first year to do it all as well so I think the sqa are quite 'understanding' when it comes to exams and stuff which is nice

It wasn't great to be honest, the first paper was reasonable but the second paper was abysmal! Not gonna lie, I'm really disappointed considering how much I studied for it but I'll just need to up my game for the final exam!

Yeah, I'm in fifth year, I'm doing CFE higher English and maths and old higher human biology, chemistry and physics. The science department in my school was pretty much the only one to stick with old higher for another year which I'm grateful for; no added value units!

Thanks! Here's hoping they are better than the maths prelim
