1) work out - lift heavy weights, do about 3 sets of 8-15 reps, if u can do more than 15 reps you need to lift more. Try and get it within 8-15 reps. Also, resting is vital, your muscle only grow when your resting so dont over train.

2) eat more calories - instead of 3 big meals, try having 6 meals a day. Try having 1g of protein per pound of ure body weight. Eat more healthy fats ( omega 3, omega 6) and avoid saturated fats. Drink more water so it hydrates your muscles and therefore can repair n grow bigger.

And be consistent, hope this helps.

DOn´t worry I´m more or less like you: 1,78 and around 55-56 kg! I´d love to weigh about 10 kg more but just doesn´t work... well I guess we gotta live with it :smile:

yeah in the same boat, just lost weight due to long term illness. now 52kg and prob the same hieght. Im finding it really hard to get back to eating a normal weight of food. (my illness partially disabled my digestive system so eating was difficult).

Why is doing excersise a good way to gain weight? surely your going to lose weight that way....?

Is doing increasing numbers of pressups a good way instead of weights?

Press ups wont do anything for you.

You will find that if you attempt to do pressups at your height and weight, you wont be able to because you will be to weak. I was anyway, at your bodyweight.

Sometimes to gain weight you have to eat so much you feel crap. That's how I get anyway :s-smilie:
