My partner is the main claimant for me and he gets income support as he is the main carer for someone so we are on income support.

We have two children aged 5 and 12 years.
I am applying to uni and I’m worried that my housing benefit will be stopped?

Can anyone advise on this or advise the best people to speak to apart from the job centre lol.

    Thanks

sounds like you might be OK as a full time student since you're in one of these groups http://www2.le.ac.uk/offices/ssds/we...g-benefit/FSEC

you could speak to the unis welfare services people or citizens advice bureau

Some of your maintenance loan will be disregarded (ignored) for housing benefit. Your tuition fee loan will be disregarded in full and so will your special support grant.

Any amount of income support will entitle you to full housing benefit.

Full time students are also exempt from council tax. Because you live with a non-student, they are entitled to a single person (25%) council tax discount. Your uni should give you a certificate to give to the council for this.
