I have had to drop out of University due to ill health. I am currently in my first year so still live in Halls. My problem is I signed for a house for next year but I haven't paid the deposit yet. Due to move in in July however I am unsure of what to do with my contract, am I able to find somebody else to take over my tenancy and if so, how do I go about doing this? Are my house mates able to find a new house or is that too late?

My ill health was unexpected so I am under a lot of stress at the moment but the contract for the house is the last thing I need to sort out, thank fully!

Any advice is helpful! thank you.

The first step is to speak to your letting agent/landlord and see what they suggest. If your housemates would rather find a smaller house now, and they have something suitable, they may be willing to sort something out.

Read the contract carefully as well- it may discuss what would happen if someone was no longer able to move in.

Your SU may also be able to advise/support you.
