    From memory:

Mainly down to poor planning and support, underestimation of Cuban forces and complacency. Tanks and vehicles arrived on the Bay of Pigs with no fuel. Some US military were wearing unmarked clothes, US troops were outnumbered 1500:25000. No air support for the invasion, and Kennedy was reluctant to fully support the invasion. Cuban guerrilla tactics worked well against US troops not trained in hand-to-hand combat and US troops were complacent and underestimated the Cuban military. CIA guaranteed Kennedy that it would succeed but they were lured into a false sense of security by the strong Cuban guerrilla forces.

    Hope this helps!
