No, that would be insane ... and as for times it would totally depend .. I reckon you should probably allow 2.5-3 hrs to get to the M25 though, any southerner got any better estimates?

By train, it takes 2 hours from St Pancras. And it would cost loads too

Depends on where in London you are but the train from Charing Cross to Nottingham is over 2.5 hours so you would be wasting a lot of time and spending a lot of money on travel!

Not if you book in advance! Train from Nottm - London can be as cheap as £10 if you book a couple of weeks in advance. Takes about 2 hours. Another option is to take the National Express - a lot cheaper if you need to book close to when you're leaving and does Broadmarsh - Victoria in about 3 hours.

Train (on the day) - looking about £30
N.Express - £10-20

Hope that's helped

Last time I went Nottingham to London it was £58 to buy a ticket on the day! With a young persons rail card and booking in advance, it can be as low as £3.99 single though!

hmmm midland mainline charged me 7.90£ one way to Leicester, the next stop was Nottingham, took 1hr 2 mins (to be precise) to get to leicester, and i am certain that from Leicester to Nottingham, the total journey should not exceed half an hour.

edit - forgot to mention i used a young persons rail card.

You should check www.nationalrail.co.uk. This should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect.

Midland Mainline's fares start at £6 std class / £12 1st class one way if you book far enough in advance. That's excluding any railcard discounts etc...

Forget the price...why the hell would you commute to Uni?

another option is megabus.com, as low as 1 pound per journey

it leaves outside broadmarsh centre (collins st i believe) and takes ard 3 hrs to get into london.. they recently refurbished the buses so its acceptable comfortwise.. usually isnt packed, unless its peak season (in my experience)

another option would be national rail, or national express..
personally, i use megabus unless its urgent (catch a flight etc)..

good luck with your busy commuting!

That's a bitch of a commute

Personally I think it's damn stupid, but meh... each to their own. All I can say is I hope you have a good reason and not "I want to be near my boyfriend" or the like.

Depends on whether you go during the rush hour or not. That rush 'hour' being between 6am-11am and 3pm and 9pm..

Seriously, I'm in (inner) North London and it has never taken me more than 30-45 minutes to get out of London. Of course it probably takes about 5 minutes to take out of Manchester or similar Northern villages. :p:

How funny of you, have you driven in Nottingham, Manchester, Newcastle etc when it's busy? They maybe aren't as big as London, but the same roads can be every bit as busy making it every bit as slow going. Personally I don't see why you view it as a good thing, bloody stupider southern folk think weird.
