Hi, I live in Spain and would like to apply for a tuition fee loan so I can study Audio Engineering (BA - 3 years) in England. Right now I'm studying a BSc here in Spain and it's my third year in this course (though I'm technically still in my second year as I'm repeating it). I'm dropping it this year so I can study AE, but the thing is:

Given that I'm not receiving any qualification when I drop the BSc, would I be eligible for tuition loan?

If so, would the SFE deduct three years from the equation or just two of them (since I have paid for no subjects from third year yet)?

And one last question: assuming worst case scenario (having three years of loan taken away and being left with just the gift year), would there be any other way or route I can take to fix that?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there.

In this case if you have began at least 3 years of a course then we would need to deduct 3 years from your entitlement, meaning only the extra year we would award would be available for a 3 year course.

Only if you could prove there were extenuating circumstances behind you leaving this course, such as illness, bereavement, etc could we consider awarding full funding for all years. This would need to be proven with evidence.

Without this, we can only award you a maintenance loan and any supplementary grants such as childcare, disabled students allowance, etc.

    Thanks.

I see, well that's a crying shame. Thanks for your answer, it was quite illustrative!
