How do I talk to him

There's this really cute guy in my english class and we both speak to other people but have never spoken to each other. I think we both make each other shy. I really want to get to know him more, how would I go about speaking to him? It feels a bit late into the school year for it not to be awkward.
If there's no seating plan try to grab a seat next to him, or strike up a conversation when you're just outside the class or something. If you're given a piece of homework then ask him if you want to work on it at the library, after a bit of conversing.

It's never too late to start talking to someone from school. There was a girl who had been in my class since Year 12, I'd never really spoken to her until March in Year 13 and things went quite well from there.
