Hey so I applied to universities for 2015 entrance, but I've decided I want to take a gap year because of my age (I'm 16 now and wanna be 18 when i get to uni).. Can I email the universities I applied to and ask for a deferred entry? Are there any chances they'll tell me i have to go this September or just reapply? Also, should I email them now, or after I have gotten my A level results in august?
oh and I do plan on spending my gap year working like in a restaurant or something, not just sitting around at home doing nothing; but I don't have any work yet and ill start looking once my June exams are over.. will the fact that I don't really have a concrete plan yet affect their decision?

thank you so much for any help

You might as well contact them now to see what they say. Most will be accommodating, but better to do it early rather than late.

As above - if you wait until after results then they could well reject someone who missed their grades slightly because they're expecting you. Telling a uni early is good karma.

If they say they wont allow it then contact all of your other unis and ask if they will accept you as a deferred entry instead - it's still possible to switch firm/insurance or to switch to another university for your firm if they're willing to let you defer.
