right now, my parents are together, married and are both still living under the same roof.

since im applying for student finance, obviously i have to put both of their wages down on my form.

however sometimes around july-september this year, my parents are planning a divorce and my mum will be moving out. this will mean i will be living under my dads roof and my household income will obviously decrease. what will happen with my student finance because technically it should increase right?

    Hi there,

You will be able to request for your student finance to reassessed using the income of the parent that you're living with only.

When you do this you will be asked to provide evidence that you're parents are no longer together. As you've stated they plan on getting divorced you can provide a copy of a Decree Nisi, which is usually issued in the early stages of divorce proceedings. Alternatively you may be able to provide a copy of Council Tax bill showing that your parent is in receipt of a Single Person discount.

    Hope this is helpful.
