Mechanics 1 collision question Watch

1. I've just started this topic and I'm having trouble answering this question. Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you

Two particles P and Q have mass of 0.4kg and 0.6kg respectively. The particles are initially at rest on a smooth horizontal table. Particle P is given an impulse of magnitude 3Ns in the direction of PQ.
Find the speed of P immediately before it collides with Q.
2. Use the fact that impulse equals change in momentum
3. (Original post by Actaeon)
Use the fact that impulse equals change in momentum
Is this impulse=forcextime?
4. (Original post by geeraf97)
Is this impulse=forcextime?
that is correct but here you need the alternative form

Impulse = momentum after - momentum before
5. Oh ok thank you both!
