Im just editing my lit coursework and i can't decide whether 'who', 'whom' or even 'which' is appropriate. I am writing in the persona of Stephen from Birdsong and i have mentioned the many men who died in war some of 'which we knew' the 'we' meaning Stephen and Jack should i change the which to who or whom? or should i leave it?

It's 'whom' in this case. Use 'whom' after prepositions (e.g. 'of', 'at', 'by') and when the thing you are referring to is the object of a sentence. Both of these criteria are satisfied in this case, but you'd only need one criterion to be satisfied to use 'whom'.

    I think it's whom.
