Does anyone have any tips to do New York City on a budget. We're travelling at the worst time to be cheap (29th Dec-4th Jan) but is there any ways we could save money?
Asking this almost a year in advance due to the fact that you can often get good deals by booking early,
    Thanks!

The biggest cost for you in NYC will be the accommodation (aka hotels). When backpacking I stayed at HI New York Hostel, which is on 103rd St and is only a 20 minute Subway ride from Times Square.

I'd recommend staying here (it's only like £35-40) a night and the facilities are great and you will likely make new friends too.

Also for travel, you can purchase a MetroPass for a week for like $30-40 bucks, which will cover you for the whole week and let you get around everywhere with ease.

Food can also be expensive but just be smart. Definitely splash out on a nice meal at least once if you can afford to/visit bars but look around for good cheap alternatives, even the 99c pizza stalls provide fresh and tasty pizza

    Have a great time!
