# Matrices question/problem watch

1. Question is this:
The quadrilateral R of area 4cm^2 is transformed by R' by the matrix P= ( picture below)
where p is a constant.
Find det(P) in terms of p

I am not sure what to do for this question

You seem to have missed something out - you can only have a determinant of a square matrix, and your matrix is the wrong size to operate on the vertices of a quadrilateral.

Yes i have. I was oblivious to it. It is in fact a 2x2, and its meant to be 1+p and 2-p rather than them being separate *facepalm* . I would not have seen this if i hadn't read your reply so thank you for replying
