I have an essay on capital punishment due over the next month (the date hasn't actually been set yet) and whilst I usually have a set opinion on controversial topics like this: I don't know what to write. How can I write a biased essay without a set opinion?

Is there a given title or question?

I'd suggest beginning with a "For" and "Against" table, putting in common arguments for each case. Then you pick a side and write as if that's how you feel.

Yes I would do a for and against table too but as you've no set opinion I would just go for the one you could argue more strongly and be really creative about it (it doesn't have to be right or true )
