Hertfordshire County Council ( HCC) have now released their second public consultation document asking for opinions on the proposed funding cuts for non- commercial bus services that run from 19.30 weekdays, all day Sundays and Bank Holidays. This has to be completed by midnight 10th April 2015.

It can be accessed on www.hertsdirect.org/busconsult Paper copies are also available from the likes of local Public Libraries etc.

For U H students, I will give you some idea of the proposed cuts to services which HCC want to implement by Sept 2015: times given from Hatfield rail station unless otherwise stated, consult timetables on www.unobus.info and for times from The Forum/de Hav which will be some 10- 25mins later.

UNO 602 Last bus through to Watford 17.45, to London Colney ( Sainsburys) 18.25 Mon- Fri, then 18.11 and 18.41 Sats. The Sunday 602`s which are run as commercial stand alone are not effected.
In addition, the term time only Mon-Sats 602`s that go from Welwyn Garden City to St Albans and back, last departure 39 mins past each hour from Hatfield station until 22.39, are also not effected.

    Arriva 301:

Mon- Fri 19.09 through to Hemel Hempstead, 18.25 Sats, with an additional short working to St Albans at 18.43 Sats only. Sundays/ Bank holidays: 18.49. This goes via the Galleria and Comet some 8 -10mins later.

UNO 101: Mon-Sats: No bus at 19.15 and 21.15 from The Forum, and therefore no return working from Luton at 20.40, 22.40.

    UNO 635 /700:
From The Forum, last through bus to Stansted Airport ( 700 from Baldock onwards) 15.06, Hatfield- Baldock- Standen 17.35, Hatfield- Baldock ( Sats) 17.53.

UNO 653: 18.52 to St Albans Mon-Sats. ( No Sunday service)

    And the others:

UNO 404/5 ( Sunday/ Bank Hols only- South Hatfield- Milwards- Woods Avenue- Travellers Lane- rail station- WGC and return) : this will stay, but only in the form of the 404 only which goes via Welwyn Garden City QE2 Hospital. The route variation ( 405) via Stanborough Lakes and Handside Lane will go, reducing it to a two hourly service. There may be timetable amendments to this.

UNO 242: this will stay but only the two hourly frequency from Welwyn Garden City - Hatfield Potters Bar- Cuffley- Cheshunt- Waltham Cross and return. All the short workings weekdays after 19.30 and all days Sundays/Bank Holidays from Potters Bar- WX /Hammond St. will go.

Centrebus 366 ( South Hatfield- Welwyn garden City- Luton & return) : possibly cut back to work from WGC only, with reduced frequency.

Keeping the 404 & 242 is at least a glimmer of good news, as in the August proposals they were on the list to be cut.

Also is the fact that the above routes such as the 301 and 602 which arrive at their destination after the 19.30 cut-off point and have to work back to the depot will do so as service buses,i.e., such as the 602 to Watford at 17.45, which returns back from Watford at 19.55, arrives Hatfield station 21.30, then to the depot in The Business Park arr 21.38.

Don`t forget UNO have just introduced a £1 Student fare in Hatfield which can be used on any of their services. This extends to Welwyn Garden City Bus Station by The Howard Centre, to Smallford en route to St Albans, to Welham Green, and to the Holwell Roundabout near Essendon en route to Hertford.

All Hertfordshire bus timetables including the Arriva 300/01 can also be accessed on HCC`s own site at www.intalink.org.uk
