# Algebra watch

1. I'm having a complete mental block this afternoon:

simplify (x^2+4x+3)/(x^2+x)
Is the answer 7 (as in the x^2 on both top and bottom cancel each other out and the 4x looses its x because of the division) or am I coming at this completely wrong?

That is completely wrong

Factorise the numerator and the denominator

Then cancel the common factor
