    Am I wrong in thinking I can get a bit more maintenance loan due to a "non means tested" application. Was told this but not sure how true it is, kinda worried I'll get very little due to step parent earning a lot but not financially help me at all...

    If you do a non means tested application, it means you automatically get the minimum loan available. So no, you won't get any more maintenance loan - and unless your step parent earns over the highest threshold, it's possible you'll end up with less.
