Does anyone know if you get off-spec marks for use of examples that aren't in the spec but still apply to concepts we've learned? So for example I wrote in the internal/external responses essay about an ecological study using protists which was first used to determine ecological niche through competition. Niches are in the spec but not this study so would that still count?
Is talking about kinesis an external factor in the essay?
omg I want to die

also, I didn't finish my essay, I wrote about 2 1/3 pages but the first two pages were mostly introduction + one point on controlling blood glucose in a lot of detail....then I did a paragraph on natural selection but it was quite vague before I mentioned a sentence on thermoregulation but then the exam ended :frown: does this mean I can only get a max of like 4 in scientific content? because my points weren't varied? I made a quick plan too and it had those mentioned points +migration + behaviour of ectotherms.... what have I got :'(

I loved the gel electro question.
Did u talk about parent being homozygous recessive/dominant
And offspring hetrozygous and then i talked about about why the R was further then r

liked that question
Any ideas what my essay would be like for 10b):
Genetic modification of animals/plant to improve productivity for humans
Regulation of
Meiosis in sexual reproduction allows variation and hence evolution within humans
Control of transcription translation allows control over protein synthesis and hence growth, whilst errors can produce advantages (important) and disadvantages (bad)
Cell growth control n how it links with Human growth hormone (no control cause giants and early death)
Mentioned sometcing else too but have forgot, afterwards I'm questioning if it was all relevant however technically was a good written essay, thorough detail and had a solid plan.

2.27:1 Well thats what i put and its what most ppl put soo

Thanks
For questionaire I put about about them not being truthful and not giving enough detail e.g closed questions

I did 10b)
Cell cycle
Cancer
Photosynthesis
Greenhouse effect
Red blood cells/white blood cells
Genetic variation

I wrote more but can't remember, and named dropped a few topics without explaining too much

what did people put for the 1 marker on why neurones can actively take up that substance but something else couldn't (think it was for MS but I can't remember the wording haha)

Hydrophobic so it would pass through the membrane by simple diffusion?

I think you'd get outside of spec marks if you get full marks on scientific contect for the essay

Yes I guess so because its behavioral responses to outer change

Can someone tell me if talking about histamine was relevant to the internal/external essay (the first one) and whether it is on the specification? I related it in a way to the human body being injured on the skins surface and then it increases permeability to capillaries for white blood cells to carry out phagocytosis against invading pathogens.

I definitely think so! Histamine acts in increasing the permeability? Of capillaries near an injury like you said, a response to their external environment having an effect on them as it allows immune systems cells to diffuse into the site of injury or infection, so I think it would definitely get you some marks!

i put actin, water, tropomyosin

ATPase breaks it down, ATPsynthase reforms it 😌

Sorry but I can't be the only one who thought the myosin binding to myosin was a mistake??
Wouldn't be the first time, AQA made a small mistake in the physics exam...

I noticed this as well and it threw me off for a second!

So did I !!
I feel like I misinterpreted essay B after reading people's comments -
I wrote about he importance in cell devision about proto oncogenes, tumour suppressor genes and their mutations.
Then the importance of reproduction I wrote about mutation in gametes, random assortment, random segregation, crossing over and random fusion of gametes to produce variation for selection.
The importance of development I wrote about differentiation/cells becoming specialised for their function in a multicellular organism (eg the pancreas is a organ and has islets of langerhan but it also contains enzyme secreting cells for digestion.
Then importance of development in other organisms I talked about how meristem in plants don't differentate and remain totipotent and this is the basis of asexual reproduction.

I feel like my easay is not even close to anyone else's - have I misinterpreted? :frown:

Yup, it's one of the important ones too, along with taxis and tropism ....

Yes  I didn't know what else to put though and wasn't that question 4 marks? I think I got 1/4 I couldn't interpret the graph, I didn't think there was enough info. I also put that some of the resistant flies died but I was winging it.

Did you write that too?
