I've been planning on reripping my CD's to FLAC and in the process of doing that and buying new albums, I've been thinking about how I know what CD's I have.

What I don't want to do is go to a shop and not be sure if I have the CD or not or accidentally buy an album twice.

Apart from a note in iCloud, what would you all recommend?

I'm in the middle of this process at the moment. Whilst I do all my shopping online, I can see why you'd need a list.

I use MusicBee to rip and play all my FLAC files. You can also use MusicBee to export a list of your music .

I will be ripping with EAC and playing all my FLAC files with foobar2000, so knowing what is in my library is not an issue at all, it's only to know what physical media I have :P

Nice. I looked in to EAC, but decided that the ease of everything within MusicBee was the way forward for me. It uses AccuRip to verify files too which is nice. Also, a lot of my music is digital purchases (there are no physical releases) so ripping isn't always an issue.

Aye, I suppose until you have everything ripped you are in trouble. Hmmm... What about an app that can scan the barcodes of your CDs and store a catalogue like that?

    Might do the trick...

A barcode scanner might actually do the trick, thanks for that - I will look into that!

"I don't know if I own an album or not"

You clearly just buy music for the sake of it if you don't even know if you own it. If you really loved it you'd be playing it all the time. This is a stupid thread.
