Sussex blatantly for social i think, its just 10minutes out of Brighton!

Both Sussex and Bath are in the times top 20 for CompSci meaning they are both really good. Personally if for social life i'd pick Sussex becuase its in Brighton, i'm not too sure of life surroudning Bath, altho it is a v good uni, and so i'm sure its social life is as good also.

Stuff league tables. Reading is lowest league-table wise out of all the unis Ive applied to, yet it will be my firm or insurance if I get an offer.
Sussex is a good uni, go for it.
I wouldn't apply to Bath if I were you, it was an absolute dump I thought.

I wouldn't say it was that bad! You're going to be biased because they don't do history! Btw, 10 Tors is great i did it! Steeperton Tor Fo' Life!

Nah it wasn't just the fact they didn't do History it was other stuff which got on my nerves. It's a good uni, but it really isn't for me.

Ten Tors is great I did 45 in 2005 and 55 this year. 55 miles almost killed me lol, I'm not doing it again this year cos I seriously have to concentrate on my A-Levels
I reckon I could've done better in my ASs if I hadn't have done Ten Tors.

What mileage / year did you do it? What time did you complete it?

I did 35 in yr 10 (2004), and 45 in yr 11 (2005). Both were completed around about 1-2 hours before the 5 o clock deadline  I'd really like to train to do the 55 mile event, (I cant believe you managed to do it! well done!) but I can't find any local place that does it. Maybe in 2008 I could have a shot at it if a uni I go to runs it  I have so many good memories from being out on dartmoor, even despite the hard times occasionally

Yeah it's one of the nicest places and at the same time on of the nastiest places on earth lol.

If you're interested:

http://www.events.ex.ac.uk/tentors/2005/routen.htm - This was 45 Miles (2005) in Year 11, CLIC (Exeter & Torbay) and no I wasn't 'A' just incase you think that, I was E or F, can't quite remember.

This is 55 (2006) Year 12 - http://www.events.ex.ac.uk/tentors/2006/routey.htm - see Tavistock College

Actually I'm pretty sure there's a big rugby culture here at Bath. I'm not sporty so I don't know, but my friends always get screechy and excited when they see a Bath RFC player training at our Sports Training Village! Perhaps the University teams are too busy actually playing rugby to bother about a website? Besides, you can find out about the teams on the Team Bath website, apparently rugby is one of the universities 'focus sports' whatever that means - http://www.teambath.com/?page_id=95

Also, just wanted to add that I love it here and despite the possibility of transferring elsewhere (long story) I chose to stay here because I couldn't bear the thought of leaving. Basically, no-one can tell you which university to go to because different places suit different people. After a year here I definitely wouldn't call Bath a dump, but each to their own.

You should visit both, that's the only way you'll know. I was dead set on Portsmouth until I visited Bath, then I knew I only wanted to come here.

And sol89 - of course Bath doesn't offer History; it's a predominantly scientific university! There's no English course either, or anything like that. Didn't you check that out before going to an open day!?

I would go to Bath, it is the times top 10 whereas Sussex is 20 something

Yeah but I visited uni's all over the country just to get out of doing post AS work which I really couldn't be bothered to do.

I went to:

Reading - excellent
Leicester - excellent
Exeter - excellent
Portsmouth - nice, but uni isn't great
Plymouth - crap
UEA - good uni, but reminded me of Bath
Bath - [censored]
Bristol - obviously great but I personally didn't like it
Southampton - quite good

both are equally really good academically but definitely sussex for social life... obviously i'm biased but it's right near brighton and i don't think there is a lot going in and around bath, or so i've heard from a few different people.

ive got lots to think about then!
