Thanks in advance
Carboxylic acid contains a COOH group.
Ester contains a COO group(this will always near the middle of the molecule)

An ester and carboxylic acid both contain C=O so would decolourise bromine solution whereas an alcohol wouldn't!

Also, alcohols are flammable, carboxylic acids turn pH indicator red/orange and esters have a (usually nice) smell
