Person at work is showing signs of interest, like flirting and getting really friendly with me. I don't know what to do, she is 40 and I am 24 and I really have no interest in her

How can I tell her to back off nicely because we are friends but every day she flirts and it's annoying, I just don't want to upset her because I can be quite blunt in these situations

It's just my personal preference that I won't date someone older than me.

Tell her you have a girlfriend or something.

Compare her to your mum at every single opportunity, so she will realise that you don't look at her in any way other than friend at work.

How uncomfortable... Hint that you are for some reason not single, and see if her flirting continues. Some people actually don't realise they are doing it, or that it's such obvious flirting. I also concur with the suggestion you draw comparisons with your mother, just for clarification purposes. I can imagine if she continues the behaviour after you've made it abundantly clear it's inappropriate, there's a slight issue and I don't know how you could continue your friendship.

Start going on about going to see your girlfriend or something
