    Hello,

I'm applying for AC to nursing this sept, and was wondering if any one know fees that apply? I'm a mature student (27 starting the course) family, mortgage currently working in care and will be studying in cardiff. Did any one pay a fee for the course, if so how much? I know that age and situations (work or claiming benefits) vary when it comes to paying. Any students who have feedback regarding this question?

    Thanks 😊

Hi I think fees for access are between £3000 and £4000.

You can apply for a 24+ loan. It will cover the costs of your course and if you go in to complete a degree the loan for the access course is written off.

I paid around £800 in fees to get into Access a couple of years ago (2012/13) I've lost sense of time/date since.

I have no idea how much I paid in travel etc. I did an ad-hoc job and voluntary too.

If your course is UNDER 15 hours (mine was 14.5) You can claim JSA (if you're thinking about quitting your job and have no other support available) You need the College to provide proof of this.

Unfortunately, like me, you're just over the age to apply for any benefits the college would grant (like Adult Learning Funds) But you may be able to ask for other benefits.

Head into the College and go have a word with their finance officer. You may need to book an appointment, but they're well worth the wait. That guy really helped me knowing what I could and couldn't claim. It's worth asking CAB (Citizen's Advice) and checking out things like that too if you're worried.

Good luck with it all. Let us know how you get on.

I am currently looking into starting an access course in September and my fee will be £1500, however that is because I am aged 23. According to the college I will be attending, if you're 24 or over it's double this at £3000! But you can apply for 24+loan and your college may offer bursaries and other sorts of funding like mine does to reduce the cost
