    Hello everyone,
just a few questions really! I'm currently serving as a submariner in the royal navy and want to become a paediatric nurse!
Been in for coming on 5 years and can apply for early termination, and was wondering how I could get into this field of work? Would I have to attend college to ascertain the UCAS points? As it's been just over 5 years after I finished my alevels. I also have a nvq in nuclear engineering but doubt that would come into any use!
I will be 25 when I leave will this class me as a mature student at university? And what are your experiences on being a mature student?

    Cheers!

( sorry if this is pretty vague, it's just that I have very little knowledge on the application process!)

    Hi!
If you are wanting to apply have a look at what universities you would possibly like to go to. Give them an email and see what their entry requirements are. This should let you know what you may need in regards to experience with children and grades etc.
Nursing is extremely competitive these days and experience will always help. Look at volunteering or any work experience possible. Not all unis will want experience but it can help your application.
You need to apply through ucas before Jan 15th, otherwise you may have a chance through cleaning. You need a referee to write a reference as well so bare someone in mind for this.
You will be classed as a mature student but this doesn't really make much difference these days to be honest. In nursing this will come in useful for general life experience and your attitude to the course. It is demanding and it is hard going but passion and maturity will get you through
    Best of luck!
