Extra doesn't open for another month and is only open for a very small group of people.

Clearing doesn't open fully for another seven months and 90% of people who use it don't *plan* to miss their offers.

What sort of discussion do you expect to see in this thread?

No harm at all. It just wasn't clear from your OP that you're currently thinking you might be using Extra.

Have you started looking into universities that have the courses you're interested in open still for late applications? If so it may be worth getting in touch with then now to ask if they're expecting to be open in Extra.

Because you apply to one choice at a time through Extra you need to do your research/contacting up front and informally. That way you can use Extra to apply for a course you most want to go to and that you have a good chance of getting an offer for.

Generally put yourself together a shortlist of 5-10 choices.
Phone/email to ask if they're likely to be open/make you an offer.
This will usually shrink your list down to about 5 choices to research/visit/talk to students etcetc.
Once you've picked your favourite then you apply through Extra.
