Yeah its not too late to cancel. When you cancel it means you loose your place and can got go elsewhere and need to reapply. you Can apply something like September-January, which means its not too late to do so.

You can only apply through UCAS once per year, and you can't apply if you're holding a deferred offer. So if you have a deferred offer from last year, you could withdraw that and apply again this year.

Just thought I'd pop my question in here as it's so similar ... After a few issues with my uni's admissions/accommodation department I requested deferred entry really late on, just a few weeks before my course was due to start and they (very nicely) allowed me to take a gap year. I've been feeling for a while though that it would've been a relief if they'd actually refused and I'd applied elsewhere - I'm just not sure anymore that I really want to go there, and I could apply to a "better" uni. Would I be allowed (or would it be too downright cheeky) to back out now, or should I stick with what is essentially a good uni and lump it? I'd probably have as good a time there as anywhere, it's just there are a lot of other factors on my mind. Would it cause a huge fuss/ a lot of aggro if I was to tell them I’d decided against going after all? I'd really appreciate any advice or opinions, this is on my mind almost constantly and I'm not sure what to do!

You need to contact the uni, and get them to release you, and then contact UCAS to withdraw your application. You cannot start a new UCAS application until you have done this.

Then, you can apply again as normal. If you wished, you could apply again to that uni as one of the 6 choices so if you did want to go there later, assuming they gave you an offer, you could go
