I am a newly qualified nurse who has got a job on a Short Stay Unit in a city hospital. I had my final placement there and found it to be pretty stressful, albeit with some very quiet moments compared to most wards.
When I tell people where I got my job, they either say 'you aren't gonna be doing anything', say it's rubbish or one guy just laughed.
Why do people react like this? What is the general opinion about short stay unit nursing?
A nurse on there told me it was considered 'medium acute medical'.
I wanted to pick a fairly difficult medical ward!
