Forget the qualifications. Forget the extra salary after your degree...

Is university and the associated debts worth it just to make the friends and go partying and have fun and develop as a person during your most fun years?

I wouldn't go to university just to party, that's a lot of debt for a few nights out. However it is great for social development and teaching you to be more independent and manage your finances etc.

What I would say is if you don't have something you seriously want to study then don't go to university. You can get the same life experience by simply moving out and getting a job. University is there primarily for you to get an education even though it is a lot of fun and great from a social perspective. If you aren't prepared to put in the work and study hard then you'll end up not liking university anyway so it wouldn't be a good experience.
