I twisted my ankle...

I twised my ankle this afternoon followed by abt an hour walk with extreme pain... it has been abotu 9 hrs and has not got any better and even worse...
I could kindof walk, but just wonder how likely it would be broken?

(I cannot not have anythign broken this time of the year, coz I am a photography student and doing a project on locations that are mostly in the middle of no where, so I need to walk a lot...)

i dont think it is likely to be broken if you could walk on it for an hour. is it swollen? if so keep it elevated (above the level of your heart as much as possible, try lying down with a few cushions under the foot) and put an ice pack on it for 20 minutes every hour. and take some ibuprofen. go see doc if worried
if you can put any weight on it, there's a good chance it isn't broken, maybe just a mild-bad sprain.
If you can walk on it without screaming in agony then it's probably just a nasty sprain.

Do the ice pack thing that someone suggested and get a bandage around your foot and ankle to support it until you can get an appointment with a doctor to get it properly checked over.
Dont walk, take a rest. Decrease it's mobility and use an icepack on it for about an hour; give it a break and then use a hot pack on it for the remaining time. Also use a soothing balm and take some painkillers, should be almost gone by tommorow morning.

Why
then use a hot pack on it for the remaining time.

if it is swollen do not put heat on it, this will only increase blood flow to the area and therefor swelling
Oh yeah sorry, I didnt think it was swollen.

Even if you can't walk on it without screaming in agony, it can still just be a sprain...

When I went to Paris last year, I stepped off the bus and went over on my ankle. It hurt a bit at the time but I was fine to walk to the hotel and everything. Was only when we were out that it started seizing up. It went from fine, to hurting, to not being able to stand on it at all and nearly passing out from the pain in the space of about 10 minutes.

Was awful. Had to just stay in the hotel and ice it for ages and drug up on painkillers. It hurt that whole day and night and in the morning the n ext day for a bit too but was fine after that so don't worry too much

If it's not swollen or purple yet i highly doubt it's broken.

I did some "soft tissue damage" to my hand, they said it could take up to 6 weeks to get better :frown: Doubt yours will take that long but sometimes they take a while.
