Telling Girfriend I love Her.

Okay so ive been in a relationship with my new girlfriend for about 5 weeks, which I don't think really qualifies anybody to love each other properly. Anyways she's recently started saying I love you, and i just dont know what to say, ive muttered it back a few times , and others ive just smiled. I know it sounds really petty but i have a big problem with throwing the phrase around until im actually sure i mean it, its pretty worthless otherwise. But what do I do, things could potentially get pretty arkward.

I know how you feel. When they say it, you feel obliged to respond. You want to but you want to mean what you say. I think you should tell her exactley how you feel. It'll save alot of worry in the short term.

I commend you for your honesty. If you tell her what you have just told us, everything should be fine. Good luck

Just tell her what you said then, about wanting to be sure before you say it.

Just explain to her what you just told us. It's what I did with my boyfriend until I felt ready to say it back, and he wasn't insulted or offended.

I agree that you should tell her how you feel. Don't make her feel totally rejected but be honest. If she genuinely does love you then she will probably be upset, but wouldn't want to force you into saying it. Then when you do say it it'll actually be a special thing!

say "je t'aime"

it puts a heavy pressure off you. plus, you can confuse her

Ditto what's above. You should never say "I love you" and not mean it.

and they didnt feel that way, balls.

im on the verge of telling a girl i know that i love her but i dont think its the right time to say it yet...
