Missing classes- in trouble- advice needed

So I've bunked a couple of really boring HY116 classes. I received an e-mail saying the following:

<<Insert name>>

re: HY116.A, International History Since 1890, Group 08
You have been reported as absent from this class/seminar on the following dates: 03-NOV-06, 27-OCT-06

As you know, attendance at classes is compulsory at the LSE. According to records posted by your teacher, you have now missed 2 consecutive classes. Should there be a reasonable explanation for these absences, please make these known to your class teacher as soon as possible. Should there be something affecting your ability to attend class, please contact your tutor for advice. Your continued failure to attend class may have serious consequences for both your performance and future progress at the School.

DO NOT REPLY TO THIS EMAIL - this matter must be resolved with your class teacher or tutor

Question: What the hell do I tell my tutor?! Is he going to ask me why I haven't attended? Help! (Ideally from an LSE student).

I'm guessing that was some automated email sent. You should arrange a meeting with your tutor asap, so that they think that you are trying to help etc. and are not trying to hide.
you need 2 excuses - but i can't really see much happening to you. you'll probably get a lecture about how you should go to all classes, you are wasting the class teachers time, and other stuff like that.

Try to get into contact with ollie. I remember hiim missing a heck load of lessons, but managing to avoid getting a warning somehow. :p:

^ Cheers. But the thing is I have HY116 staright after IR100 so it may look a bit suspicious that I attend one and not the other. I really want to tell my tutor the truth (ie that it's boring) but I'm not sure whether that'll be a good idea.

ghost101 what are you studying...?

I'm glad I'm not at LSE! At SOAS, you meet the tutors and they still don't ask (or care) why you weren't at their tutorial a few hours ago. :p:

You could always say that you were ill, or that you didn't know where the classes were. :p:

Xanthe, I'd think your history and IR tutors were mutually separate; they wouldn't check each others records (wouldn't it be completely separate departments)?

I got this email the other day despite not missing a two classes in row i only missed the one!but my tutor still asked me for an explanation!

Socrates, sure you're glad you're not at the LSE- is that why you continue to post and monitor the posts on this forum?

I could try the latter since my tutor knows I've been walking around like a disorientated ****.

I wouldn't rather be anywhere else apart from SOAS. I love it here.

Why I monitor this forum has its reasons, and the right people know.

What is the worst they can do? Its not like you're at school and they'll give you detention. :p:

True, but it's embarassing for me. I'd hate to be taken to task over it.

Lets not go offtopic; Xanthe doesn't like her threads being hijacked. Especially not by me. :p:

Hehe, don't panic! It's automated. If you're seeing your tutor on Wednesday wait and see if he/she brings it up but to be honest, this is not a major problem. I had several of those last year and my tutor didn't say a word.

If he/she does ask about it, tell her that you don't find that the classes help your understanding, explain that you did the readings (maybe do a couple if you haven't so that you can demonstrate that you've got a grip on the subjects, it'll come in handy for the exams anyway), and then apologise until you're blue in the face.

And from now on, skip one, go to one, skip one, go to one... Honestly though darling, it's not going to be a big deal.
