Hey guys, basically i am 16 and still doing my GCSE's. I don't want to hear 'just focus on your GCSE's' please, i need some advise. I may possibly go into business as it interests me and is something that would always be in demand. What type of businesses are good? And what qualifications would be good to go into business and what specific business jobs would be great. My plan is to go into business in my 20s and then own my own business when i am around 27 ish.

You are approaching this all wrong. What do you enjoy? What type of businesses do you admire? What kind of things spark your interest? These things will help you focus and find what is right for you.

"Business" is a broad terminology as much as saying you want to do something in science. Someone doing one thing in "business" will detest what the next person is doing.

However, to answer your question, you probably want to choose a mixture of subjects - an essay based on, a maths, and then another.

But the main thing to get you into any "business" is proving you are determined to succeed, so good grades are the main thing.

Maths in A level is a nono... I'm doing good for a GCSE student however A-level maths will destroy me as i know i will completely hate it. And hmm... I understand. What can help me narrow down what section of business i want to go into? I chose business studies for my A levels next year. And my grades are good at the moment. I love chemistry for GCSE but the A-level chem is completely different and i don't think i should choose a science.

I don't necessarily mean maths itself - try economics, mainly business but just a little more sophisticated and a healthy level of maths.

If you don't like maths, good luck running your own business though!

There is little point trying to narrow down things this early. Go get some work experience and find out what you like doing in a job and what you don't. That will help you work out what area of business will be right for you.

Hmm... Business is a thought of a field i'd want to work in. Do you have any suggestions? I enjoy sociology, business, chemistry as well. I want to know what field i want to work in so i can put my A levels towards that field and put my mind to it. Or do you know any sites etc i could check to help me see what i'd enjoy?
