Thank you so much  good luck to you too and everyone else applyin!

No, I'm not applying to Nottingham - unfortunately I'm not in their postcode system thing even tho Iive in the poorest borough in London haha

I'm actually nearly done with my personal statement but I don't know if I like it or not.
It's actually very very personal which I think is a little scary but I'm gonna get my teachers and my mentor to check it out too.

haha, no worries
my personal statement still needs a lot of work to be done but I'm getting there.
My own deadline is 15th September so it's all good.

How many people do you think are applying this year?

Fair enough, good luck with it  I'm petrified that there will be hundreds applying :frown: hopefully around 200...

I'm applying for this!
AS: ABBC
GCSE: A*AAAAAABBC

I'm struggling on my PS. Anyone have any tips on how to make it more academic?

Well you don't want to run to a thesaurus, it would sound weird and flow unnaturally if you use words you aren't familiar with. Being academic is being clear, precise and effective with language use. I recommend you keep it simple and clear to sound like a competent student who knows what what they want. By all means add some "therefore" and a little spark for some flair but keep it personal *wink*

P.S be smart with the way you phrase thing e.g "Willingness to learn and dedication is at the heart of education" rather than "Education requires a willingness to learn and dedication" Have the important word being the end-focus. It sounds more original and interesting.

Thanks so much, this was really useful.

However my 6th form head said my PS didn't have enough stuff about my A-level subjects (only have a paragraph) and had too much "outside school" stuff (care home, mentoring, volunteering etc).
Surely talking about bio, chem and maths isn't that important as literally everyone who's applying does those subjects. Idk what to do...

Omg I'm sorry but don't follow their advice. A sentence or two is more than enough but you have a paragraph and they want more?! All medical schools want chem and bio so why talk so much about. Outside stuff is exactly what Southampton wants so I'd say your on the right track. Honestly go with your gut, read some exemplars and see if they have piles of paragraphs about chemistry. I don't want to give you bad advice but I'm sure a few sentences about your subjects will suffice
