reverse parallel parking is a bitch. I didn't get it on my test - if i did I would have failed!!

Paralell parking is probably the hardest if you stick to 'the rules' - i rarely have to do it when I drive but I really base it on my instinct rtaher than precision measuring of angles. Sometimes I have to adjust by going forward and then back in but I can still do it much quicker than taking the time to measure everything.

reversing aroudn the corner is also a toughie when learning - i had to do it up a hill on my test! again in reality i rarely stick to the way I was taught - you can just reverse around a corner real quick if no one is about.

The one i use most of a 3 point turn - its all about turning the wheel quickly and its fairly easy IMO.

Turn in the road is fairly easy, main thing with it is taking it slowly so you are less likely to bump the kerb. I found parallel park ok because I had a set 'routine' for it and had worked out where to turn the wheel and how much, I struggle with this one now as the routine doesn't work in a different sized car! I just end up shuffling the car around until it fits in, which is fine when you have passed, but not on your test. Personally I found the reverse round the corner hardest as there are so many different shaped corners, some are really tight, others are wide, some are up a slope etc. I found it hard to judge it and keep the car close to the kerb all the way round. I wouldn't worry though plenty of practice and you should be ok with them, none of them are impossible, its just finding a method which works for you.

I used to hate parallel parking. But once Id passed my test I found it a lot easier and do it all the time now without even thinking about it!

I duno why you have to learn how to reverse round a corner, not like you ever actually use it....probably just to learn better car control.

Definately Emergency Stop :p:

I dunno i found all of them as hard as each other really initially, just practice!

if u ahve a ****ty car that doesnt have power steering, turning ur car while trying to parallel park will do make ur arms THROB! lol

yeah paraelle park is a bummer lol, the rest is easy i think. i had reverse around the corner and turn in the road hehe i didnt need to do a parking one.!!! but with paraelle park, the thing is to correct your mistake before it becomes a major, i.e if youthink you will hit the curb then you must move forward once to correct it. i did this for reverse round corner. only got 3 minors which im proud of hehe

I managed to part a car without power steering and i'm a girl

I found bay parking the most difficult, i still couldnt do it when i passed my test.

My worst one has to be the wide reverse!

Reply 12

Has to be reversing round corner

i cant stand it done it perfect twice since then just go down hill

turn in the road(3point turn) is best i can do that perfect:cool:

I find reverse bay parks really hard because the method i've been taught is to count three lines up from the bay you want and start turning then.. however my difficulties arise in that i struggle to see which bay they mean and then work out 3 lines up!! (DOH)

I also hate reverse rounf the corner for the simple reason that it is so difficult to get right everytime, due to different shaped corners! I usually start ok, but come the turn (or straighten up) i leave it too late!! Reverse round the corner is the easies to fail on because its too damn esy to hit the kerb without realising.

Reverse bay park isnt too bad, i find it easieer i think because there is a car infront that you have to work with and that somehow makes you more careful!

Turn in the road is probablly the one i feel most confident with, although make sure you use the handbreak after each section of the maneuver because if you roll back you will probably get a least a minor for lack of control.

And finally, my favourite one... The Emergency Stop... Love it!! I get so scared though when my instructor says stop and really slam on the breaks!! hehe, so satisfying when the ABS kicks in and you know you've done a great stop!

Good luck with them all though, and just try out the methods until you find one that suits you!

surely the ABS kicking in means you were either a bit hard on the brakes or dumped the clutch down too early? Hence not a great emergency stop.

I probably disliked parallel parking the most when learning to drive though.

Reply 15

No if the ABS kicks in thats an emergency stop!????

bay park where I took my test was really easy. The bays are huge and could easily fit 2 cars. Its literally impossible not to get it in. Id say parallel, I still have trouble with it sometimes even after about 8 months of having my license. Quite often you have to rush it 2 when there is lots of traffic. The good thing in the test though is they'll choose a place with loads of space to get in. Just make sure you take it slow, you can always straighten up at the end, so just don't hit the curb.

I think parallel parking is the hardest... i'm quite happy to do reverse round corner and turn in a road but i HATE parallel parking:rolleyes: altho it will deffinately be used more than reversing round corner after u passed ur test  For my test i had to do PARALLEL PARKING, REVERSE ROUND CORNER & EMERGENCY STOP!!

i hate reversing around the corner!! luckily it never came up on either of my tests..

Reversing round a corner's a nightmare. The other day we did it on a (relatively) busy road, and I kept having to stop and start for cars, and it ended up taking almost 10 minutes! In the end, the clutch started to smell of burning, so my instructor told me to drive off and that we'd do it next week...!

Turn in the road and emergency stop are great fun; parallel park's ok, and the bay park's all right, but not my favourite.
