Stirling; Animal biology? (and accommodation?)

I never even thought about applying to Stirling until now.

Is the animal biology course the same as zoology? I always thought animal biology was only a 3 year course but at Stirling it's listed as a 4 year course so I'm assuming it's like zoology.

Is the accommodation as bad as everyone makes out?
The campus looks gorgeous but I've been told the halls aren't that good.

My best friend applied to zoology at everywhere except Stirling where he applied for Animal Biology. He wants to be a zoologist as well, so I'm pretty certain it's the same sorta course.

yeah but are the halls actually that nice anywhere?!

I don't know about the course, but im at stirling now. The halls aren't amazing, and its 20 people to a kitchen (unless you live in AKD) but it isn't so bad as it sounds.

Im staying in Murray Hall and its no palace but you just don't think about it because you're always too busy having a laugh.

Reply 6

Is it hard to cook if you have so many people to 1 kitchen?

I have to say I'd heard the Aberdeen halls were pretty bad
Ours were decent, not palaces or anything, but quite liveable

Yeh, I'd heard that before I went as well. I have a nice room (nothing fancy but big enough and have everything in it that I need), free internet access and we have a cheap bar, shop, pizza/kebab shop, sports hall, tennis courts, pool tables, etc. on site. The grounds are really nice as well, get loadsa people sitting around on the grass or playing football n stuff on the nice days. The food is also good. Nothing special but I've never yet left hungry at meal times.

The halls are cleaned every day and they clean our rooms and give us fresh bedding every 2 weeks.

Oh, and the number 20 bus taking us from halls, through uni campus and stopping outside the union - nice one!

Hmm, just realised that they give us fresh bedding, clean our rooms, give us a supply of fresh water in our rooms and feed us regularly. Ever felt like a hamster??? lol

i hate hamsters, they're vicious brutes who bite a lot - similar to nessy lol. and nessy, please stop filling your cheeks with so much food, its not good for you!

Reply 13

Hey, don't hate on hamsters :p:

I'm having doubts about Aberdeen now - it's so far away!! But the courses are good!

Reply 14

Plenty of nice flats in town if the halls arent good enough. The rooms are small and for 2nd/3/4th year accom you have your own shared flats with whoever you want, so it isn't that bad!

the halls aren;t great, akd are nice the kitchens have lockable cupboards and is massive compared to mine in geddes court (ghetto). In mine there is 14 ppl and 2 ppl dont really use our floor they always end up stayin in other halls, but a few have meals packages so there is only about 9 or 10 tryin to cool, and unless u want to eat a crap meal at a good time, you have to eat a good meal at a bad time! plus u can never wash up cos u cant find the sink! but it's all part of the fun of uni!! it's an amazing laugh and everyone knows its rubbish but loves it cos it is!
