is this even a good idea?

My old co-worker and I have been talking for about a month now, and we pretty much realized we fancy each other quite a bit. The only thing is, he lives in Iowa (which is about 1500 miles away from where I live) I want to take a road trip there to see him, in January, in the snow and cold. (pretty much going out of my way a great deal)

what do you think he would think of this?

Yes go for it.

Road trips are so much fun.

Honestly, even if you're alone you'll have a great time on your way there.

Make sure you stay at some hostels and get drunk along the way.

Definitely go and see him. If it doesn't work out, then, with 1500 miles between you, it's not likely that you'll keep on bumping into him.

I wouldn't go alone in the snow and the cold, for safety reasons, make sure that you take at least 2 friends (so that when you & he get together you don't have one friend being a gooseberry and having to go off on their own).

I reckon he'd be quite pleased that you'd made the effort to go and see him.

If the road trip was something akin to Fear and Loathing in Las vegas, go for it.

1500 Miles. Whoa, thats almost the span of the UK thrice over!

Reply 5

That's a long way to see a guy you're not really sure about!

Reply 6

is there a chance he might feel more serious about me after this trip?

Reply 7

Can't he come and see you or meet somewhere in the middle? not really fair to make you travel all the way up there....x

I agree!!

At 30 miles per hour it would take the OP 50 hours to complete the journey. 60miles p/h- 25 hours. The OP would be on the road for a long time. She'd need to drive for at least 12 hours in one day if she wanted to reach the destination within 2 days. Although I imagine it would take at least three days. The OP would obviously have to stop off at a hotel (probably twice or maybe three times), so she definitely would be going out of her way to see him. And she's driving in the snow aswell... may sound like fun for an hour or two but it doesn't seem very practical to me.

I absolutely hate long car journeys but if you can hack it go ahead.

Road trips are well cool!

Apart from concentrating on your ultimate goal at the end of it, don't forget to stop every once and a while to take a look around your surroundings before you miss something.

I think you would make him feel very special, for a lady to go out of her way just to see him. Then again, I don't know him. Why don't you suggest your idea to him to see what he says?

Well, remember to call him before you start...a surprise would be definitely great but you never know how he will react

Reply 13

as long as you appreciate the fun of a road trip...and describe it to him as a 'long tiring journey' :p:

I ran it by him and he says it's random but exciting!

On the way I'm stopping by

1. Las Vegas, Nevada
2. Denver, Colorado
3. Nebraska

and spending a night each there. exciting considering i've never been to vegas OR in the snow

hahaha, no... but it does in Colorado and Iowa

be careful driving across Colorado, I've heard its quite scary & mountainous. Is there any way you could go south through Arizona/etc & then head back up, because my friend's family is from Kansas & thats the way they take if they need to drive something. Or get a cheap flight from Southwest or something? (do they fly to Iowa, lol?)
