Why do marketing objectives need to be in line with business overall objectives? I have a small understanding of why, but i am still not very confident with this. Could someone help me out by giving me a good explanation using examples?

please help me... :'(

Thanks in advance.

Marketing objectives are based around sales.
Any business is interested in sales and will set marketing objectives.
Marketing objectives help to achieve corporate objectives (overall objectives).

Here is an example: A business may want to expand. This is their corporate objective. To do this, they need a marketing objective, for example, to increase market share by x amount or increase sales abroad.
As a result of completing those marketing objectives, they will be in a better position to achieve their overall objectives.

Basically, since every business operates around their sales because that is what funds everything they do. Therefore, without turnover (through marketing objectives) they cannot reach overall goals as a business!

I hope this helps, I was unsure on how to explain so I just went with the flow!
