A object attached to string is released in front of face will the object touch the person when released (object has been extended out). Also how is gravitational potential and kinetic energy effected?

as the narration on that clip states, The mass can't come any higher than the release position on it's return journey unless it's had additional energy input.

so if the guy shoved it away from him, adding some KE, rather than just letting it fall - it would bash his noise in on the return swing.
