Affect or effect?

Could someone please let me know which is correct in this sentence? I'll replace the affect/effect part with a "______".

I aim to investigate how varying sugar concentration will ______ the rate at which yeast ferment sugar.

Help will be greatly appreciated.^_^

Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.:h:
affect

(effect is almost always a noun. Its verb form has the definition "to bring about" or "to create", as opposed to affect's definition of "to influence")

Ta very much.:h:
An easy way to remember the difference:
to affect = to alter (verb)
an effect = an end result (noun)
