I am doing my personal study a2 art. I'm exploring how women are perceived by male artists of different eras. One of my artists is from the 19th century Orientalist movement where alot of the subjects of the paintings were nude women. I am contrasting this with a current artist whos representations are pretty opposite.

How do you think this nudity would be perceived if painted today? Why do you think societies views towards nudity changed? Feminist artists argue that this phase in art history represented women simply as sex objects for the male gaze. Do you agree?
