Fascism: extreme right-wing, authoritarian, or intolerant views or practices.

people hate fascism because fascism hates them - it's fairly simple, really. if there's an ideology that advocates treating people like animals or slaves, then no wonder people don't like it.

I wouldn't as long as it accorded with everything I believed, which is where it falls down for most. The solution to this is libertarianism but with the security of a fascist government

fascism isn't exclusively right wing - hitler, for example, was a centrist, although called his cause "national socialist" probably because his centrism in the 1930s probably seemed rather left wing

The BNP are a good example of left-wing-fascists. But I think this is the most pertinent response -
"people hate fascism because fascism hates them"

Well taking an example from history. Lets go with the Nazis. They believed in a racial hierarchy of peoples, quasi-religious nordic mythologies, a selective people's community (volksgemeinschaft) forged in blood, totalitarianism - a state invasion into private life, an Orwellian style removal of freedom of speech etc etc , not to mention the practice of genocide which is the logical result of these beliefs

Just not very attractive at all.

Considering fascism has brought several million deaths to Europe and that quite a few wars have been started by it, I'd say it's kind of OK to dislike it

Mostly due to the misconception that all fascist regimes are brutal.

Fascism does not actual encourage brutal acts in itself, it's more to do with the fact single party nation's tend to try and cling onto power using more brutal methods. It's kind of why the USSR, China and many other Soviet and Communist governments were quite brutal. Also since the late 30's to late 40's we've been trained quite literally to hate fascism. Most fascists are seen as dictators or tyrant, which is now seen as more of a persons character than an actual political term.

Liberal Democracies and Socialism are just as capable as producing similar horrors and many have.

Fascism in my mind equates to people not being allowed to just do what the **** they like as long as it harms no one else.

Fascism and dictatorship are not interchangeable.

No, but facism means some people are better the others and this eventually leaves one person in complete control.

Because fascism is horrible. In the case of Mussolini or Il Duce. He wanted to be seen as a leader, he wanted Italy to believe that they were superior and to provide for their own country. He also didn't like religion but needed the backing of the church. Things like that never work though you can never take full control and remain in control. There will always be a stage where the leader becomes power blind which led to his downfall. But tbh Cuba is a communist country and has been doing okay despite the embargo from the US. Correct me if I'm wrong though which I possibly am.

Again, not automatically. Fascism is authoritarian and generally single party. It's more you do what the state says rather than automatically stating that some people are better than others.
