Anti-bacterial rinses or mouthwash may reduce the swelling and local mouth gels which are usually antiseptic and anaesthetic can also help. Flossing and regular brushing obv. helps but couldn't you just find another dentist ? x

lol there's a bunch of mouthwashes you can get from the chemist, which are antibacterial. Can't think of the one I use, but I got it when I had an infected tooth and it helped a lot. think it starts with C

My cat had gingivitus - we had to put toothpaste on his paws to get him to lick it off - you could try that... :p:

I don't have a dentist anymore so I'm left to sort out the ongoing gingivitis. I know there are a few mouthwashes which can reverse it; any recommendations? Wouldn't normally post anything about it but its starting to make my teeth wobbly.[/QUOT

Corsodyl mouthwash and gel, as you have a diagnosis of gingivitis they should be pretty safe to use +flossing and maybe a non-manual toothbrush especially the ones that stop when you apply too much pressure on your gums.

Dear God you don't have a dentist sometimes this Country sends me into a deep depression, google NHS direct they can direct you to an emergency dentist, and advise you if any Dentists in the area are taking NHS patients.

Listerine is a pretty good mouthwash

Reply 8

i genuinely thought that this was related to an inflamation of the ginge. as in, being ginger or something!

Seriously, even if you have to pay a fortune or have to travel for hours to get to a dentist I'd really advice you to go, if your teeth are getting wobbly its really not a good sign, probably not just gingivitis anymore, probably periodontitis, which again can be treated but you really want to stop this going any further, do something quickly.

Listerine is actually one of the worst mouthwashes. It has a pH of about 3, which is extremely acidic. I remember dicussing it in Chemistry. Then one girl decided to do an investigation on it and she used several substances to see which would wear away a tooth the quickest, and unfortunately it was Listerine.

hm.....i had forgotten that Listerine is no longer on store shelves in the middle east.

I'll try Corsodyl.

Reply 13

I will reiterate, go to a dentist, no amount of corsodyl is going to help if you have periodontitis, wobbly teeth is not a symptom of gingivitis.

Reply 14

True, wobbly teeth need a Dentist's intervention, couldn't your Student Health Centre help you, surely they have some links with a local practice.

I haven't been to the dentist since I was about 12, they took me, my mum and my brother off the register because we lived too far away eventhough we worked and went to school in that town and all the other dentists were "full" :hmpf:
